Partnering with colleges and universities across Texas, Michigan, and Indiana, Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation helps impact the future of nursing and community health.
As part of its commitment to educating healthcare professionals and serving communities, the Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation has made endowments totaling $125,000 to the nursing programs of five colleges and universities located throughout Texas, Michigan, and Indiana.
The established “Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation Endowed Nursing Scholarship” will be awarded to nursing students based upon character, academic ability, and financial need at the following schools: Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas; the University of Mary Hardin- Baylor in Belton, Texas; Lansing Community College in Lansing, Michigan; the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana; and the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Indiana.
“Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation is thrilled to partner with these outstanding schools,” said Michelle Newton, Chief Operations Officer of Heart to Heart Hospice. “Together we are preparing our future nurses to provide professional, patient-centered, and often heroic care to those in need, often the most vulnerable among us.
“For many, nursing is a calling,” she added, “and this is especially true of those who serve in hospice care as they learn to treat the whole person and help their families through the end-of-life journey. Nurses are critical, on so many levels, to meeting the increasing needs of our healthcare system and our society.”
The Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation endowment is made available through the foundation’s Education and Scholarship program – one of its unique programs designed to reach those in the community by providing greater care, greater education, and a commitment to celebrate life.
“We believe that the greatest impact we have is through the ripple effect of education,” said Kelly Mitchell, CEO and Founder of Heart to Heart Hospice and President of Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation. “By training compassionate caregivers today, we are creating a brighter tomorrow. We are pleased to be a part of the respected nursing programs at these fine institutions.”
