Heart to Heart Hospice and the Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation have partnered to provide a Build-A-Bear to children of families, struggling with the loss of a loved one on hospice services. The smallest of our patient’s family members can be greatly affected by grief. Children experiencing loss may find comfort in the resources and care provided by the Heart to Heart Hospice bereavement teams, in addition to having their very own Build-A-Bear to get a big bear hug anytime they need it. Since many of these children are visiting loved ones in the hospital or inpatient hospice center, they are given a set of crayons and a “cub condo,” which also serves as a coloring box.
Heart to Heart CER Krisie Albanesi, from the Carrollton, Texas team shares, “Our Foundation’s partnership with Build-A-Bear has been so appreciated not only by patients and families but by our community healthcare providers. They are touched by the compassion we have for grieving children.”
If there is a child coping with grief and loss, you can make a difference. It matters to that one child. Thank you for all that you do to provide compassionate care to patients, families, and communities.
